Bright windshield trim on 83 150

Howdy,
Was wondering if anyone knew what I could use to bring back the shine to the windshield trim on my truck. It looks oxidized or something and I have tried waxing, rubbing compound, metal cleaner and polish and nothing seems to do anything. Is this a lost cause? is replacement the only answer? thanks Johnboy

Hey, I've owned an auto detailing company for 7 years, tried it all on the old silver trim. No Luck. Polishes, compounds, silicones, waxes, to no avail. Sorry buddy, if the rest of the truck is all trimmed out and this is a sore thumb, try replaceing the metal work around the window, it's fairly easy and you can get the metal from a good truck accessories catalog like JC-W or something... best of luck- Jo

I have a 79 f150 with the window chrome detail, mine is faded bad and looks ugly, i know were your coming from. I thought about taking the trim out. sanding it, primering it and then painting it to match the color of truck. but, I think i will just replace the trim. I found a catalog on the internet that has everything in it for your Ford truck and just about any other Ford truck and GM truck. Its called LMC TRUCK. I believe the web site www is the same to, its a free catalog. also try Auto Krafters.
