Throttle Body Spacer

Does anyone here use a throttle body spacer? If so, does it really help with gas mileage as much as ive heard? I just purchased one really cheap and Im just wondering what i can expect. I have a 98 f150 4.6 4x4.

I am running one on a 5.4 4x4 and have no difference in mileage. i think what helped my mileage more than anything was getting a fuel system cleaning

hmmm....see, ive heard people say they added alot of low end and better gas mileage. Oh well, I trust you FTE brethren more than anyone else. At least it makes it sound faster when it whistles. Its paid for now and bein sent to me. Ill let you guys know how it is and if it does anything for me or if I wasted my money.

Spacers are good for carbureted engines. It allows a longer fuel and air mixing time before it enters the manifold. On a throttle body equipped engine the mixing occurs inside the cylinder where the fuel is injected.

Got one for my truck 1998 5.4L. Judging by seat of the pants it makes you feel good, it does take the slack out of the throttle cable and makes it more responsive, it also makes you use more gas because you want to hear it whistle.

I removed mine a year ago due to CEL's coming on and going off and a slew other problems, ranging from both banks going lean, to misses, rough running and misalignment on my aircleaner. Haven't had any other problems since I took it off nor have I replaced anything between then up until now.

I got more gas mileage by replacing old dry rotted parts with new and keeping my foot off the gas unless I need to light it up. I've got a cutout now, it makes a bigger difference than the spacer ever did, and it was like $15.

An exhaust cutout or cut out the airfilter housing

the only way to get a F150 to get better milage is to drive at a constant 60 MPH in overdrive with as little pedal pressure as possible. no hard accelerations

I have an 01 SC 4x4 5.4 and i am guessing the TB spacer is a wash. Not to hijack the thread but tell me more about this airbox cut out. I feel like i am dragging an anchor most of the time. My rear end is growling and i havent replaced anything under the hood so whats going to help?

i wouldn't cut up your airbox. a much better chance of getting rain, snow, water, some fluid into the air box and increasing the chance of it getting further into your intake.

look up gott's intake mod, there is no risk in that one.
