87 ranger break master cylinder. Help!!!!
O.K. I got the brake cylinder in a junk yard, now I have two from the same place. Both worked when I got them as both trucks had good brakes! I put this on my 41 ford coupe. I pick the ranger set up because the booster was small and it uses no external proportion valve. I looked at several 87 trucks and followed the brake lines and there is no external proportion valve. I have drums in the rear and disc up front much like the ranger. I bleed the brakes and I bleed them some more but still the pedal goes to the floor with no resistance! What am I missing? Except for the master cylinder and the booster everything is new? Any thoughts? Dan P.S I have worked on brakes for 30 plus years and know how to bleed brakes.

bad seal in the master cyl or rust scoring internally? you didn't say if you rebuilt it before the install.
the booster needs 3/4" of brake rod sticking out of the engine side to have enough throw for the master.
oh yeah, there needs to be some sort of rubber washer spacer seal thingee around the pedal rod and the cyl housing inside on the boost unit front area. Chilton warns about it being missing but no pics or exploded drawings. apparently they fall out of place and end up on the bottom inside of the boost can.
