Cordless weed whackers - how's the WorX?

I'm ready for a new string trimmer, having wore out a gas Homelite and a corded electric Black & Decker. I want an auto string feeder for sure, cordless electric, all other 'features' are secondary. Looks to me like the Worx (Workx?) is the best for the money, but looking for some real world feedback.

Black and Decker and Troybilt have some powerful 20V and 36V units, but I'm looking for light to medium duty 18V. The only thing that has me wondering about the Worx is they want to sell you spools of string - can you rewind your own? The spools look flimsy but since it's not a bump-feed maybe I'm over-concerned. The model I'm looking at is the W151.5, with a lithium battery, about $150.

I have the older model work X, the new battery is an awesome feature they just added to the new model. It works great on grass and small weeds, but not on heavy stuff like vines. The string that they sent you is pretty good. It's like $6.50 for shipping but they send 6-8 rolls, every time you place an order. Overall a good buy!
Hope this helps.

Have you considered some of the new Troybilt or Honda 4 stroke weed whackers? Everyone I know who got one loves them

I've noticed the 4 strokes are a bit heavier . I spend quite a bit of time running them around my pond , should have a shoulder strap ...

Thanks for the feedback, Renee. I hadn't really considered a 4 stroke; I was thinking a cordless with just enough juice to get around my 0.4 acre corner lot would be perfect.

I got the new Worx last Friday. Seems to be everything as advertised. Does a great job edging with the little wheels, and I am very happy with the auto string feed feature. The battery held up for the whole yard just fine, and never slowed down. So far so good.

I have 2 Black & Deckers a 12V and an 18V I got for my b-day, still unopened. The 12V is strong enough to do my whole yard and I have lots to trim around (retaining wall, 2 big trees, dog kennel, flower garden, etc.) I'm thinking of returning the 18V and using the money for paint and supplies.
