Could be. I'm sure Allison would have been the transmission of choice on a rig like that. Whatever it is.

It probably is an Allison. What it isn't is a Powerstroke. It's a T444E, which is International's version of the Powerstroke, but there are differences and it isn't called a Powerstroke in an International.

Only differences are the drive accessories and some electronics. Otherwise T444E and PSD are one in the same beast. The Power Stroke (yes, it's two words) is FORD's version of the T444E. Not the other way around.

And the IH trucks with the T444E did come with an allison auto. Not the one you might be thinking of in the Duramax trucks, but it's a HD truck trans found in a lot of trucks back in the '90's. They were well built but sucked for fuel mileage and always made the motors run hot.

Im sure it would take two computer programmers and 2 electrical engineers but it would be cool to have an allison (from a duramax) hanging behind the powerstroke

I saw a Superduty that was running a Cummins with a Allison tranny from a Duramax in it... Think it was in Diesel Power Mag at one of the drag racing events a while back.

I was just did a quick google and found that there is at least one place that offers it (destroked.com). They have a plate that mates a 7.3 to an allison. I kinda like the idea of a 6 speed auto behind the old powerstroke. I am going to email them and see what they have to say for themselves

The Allison that would be in the Ebay truck is WAY better than the one behind the Dmax. The Dmax has a pickup specific transmission that's been wussified from the ones in medium duty trucks.

In my diesel pusher MH, I think the Allison itself looks larger than the 7.3 in my F350.
Joe (check dual alternator bracket thread for comment from me).
