Bondo - Restore Black

wasnt sure where to put this so if its in the wrong spot could yall move it to the right spot please.. ty...

Anyone else tired of having their black plastic turning greyish color? i know i sure was... i tried other stuff off of people suggestions and always hated how it came out in the end... never looked good... most of them faded within 5mins after putting it on... others would last a couple days and then the back side of my mirrors looked like someone splashed them with oil... gave it that oil in water look.... or if youve ever seen the proverbial pinwheel of colors in a bubble thats how my mirrors looked...

well a yr ago i happened to be walking through walkmart on my weekly "exercise" trip and ran across Bondo's product called "Restore Black"... its meant for restoring faded and weathered trip back to its black glorious luster...Now believe me when i say this.. ive always been leary of bondo and never really cared for the idea of how their other stuffs used to hide dents and dings and things like that... so when it came to trying this stuff out i wasnt sure how it was going to come out...

well for the last yr ive been using dads truck as the guinea pig (which i always use to test new things on lol) so to speak to test it on and its come out great... The claims on the box i can say for sure on true... they claimed it lasts for 6 months (which was a big reason to try it) and sure enough its lasted that long and longer on dads truck.. its been on there now 8 months and is just now starting to fade off a bit..

so today i used it on my stang and my truck...

heres the stang

and if youd like a good idea of how well this stuff really works my truck is a great example of it... 22 yrs old.. original exterior trim and suns really done a number on the mirrors...

before..

passenger

driver

and now the after..

passenger..

driver

its not a 100% perfect on the driverside... but you try looking good after 22 yrs of being weather beaten and neglected.. for the condition it was in before i think thats a 1000X better than it was...

I have had the same results. All I can say is that it works. You have to be careful on how you apply it for differant applications but take your time and it looks good.

yup and thing i like about it the most is if it gets anywhere you dont want it (like when i did dads white truck with it) it cleans up easily with soap and water.. so long as you get to it soon enough..

Thats what my wife said after her last makeover

This stuff works really well, and yes it will stain light colored paint.

yeah sad part was i only noticed 90% of where it got when i originally put it on... i didnt notice the other other 10% till a month or so later when i was washing his truck again... i eventually got it off... but took alot of elbow grease to get it off at that point...

Thanks for the info. I'm always looking for long lasting products since I wash the truck twice a year whether it needs it or not.
