97 f150 rear brake bleeding

Hi I had a rear brake line pinched when my truck was cinched up on a car hauler trailer. I replaced the line but can't get the rear brakes bled. I have heard that I need a scan tool to bleed the brakes if the abs unit went dry. Also I heard maybe theres a bleeder somewhere to bleed the rear abs. Does anyone know if I can bleed the brakes myself or do I need to get the dealer to do this with his scam tool?

Is no fluid coming out when you try to bleed or what is the exact problem. I know my bleeder valve was rusted solid the last time I tried to bleed the rear drums. Try replacing the bleeder valve and see what that does.

Use the Motive Products Pressure Bleeder. It will open the ABS system and allow you to bleed it. If you have a compressor and pressure regulator - you can just buy the adapter which is cheaper than the cannister assembly.

You install the pressure fitting on the top of the reservoir of the master cylinder and apply 20 psi of pressure (with the reservoir full of fluid). Then you bleed one brake making sure you don't run the reservoir dry. Then refill the reservoir and move to the next brake. Works great.

Summit racing sells both the ford adapter and the ford full kit with tank.

Hi thanks for the replies. I have been bleeding my rear brakes but had no success in eliminating the air entrapped in the lines. This motive products pressure bleeder sounds very interesting as I have had difficulty bleeding other abs equipped vehicles as well. One suggestion I recieved from outside this site is to lock up my brakes on a gravel road which would help move the air out of the abs systen . I tried it a little in my back lane the other night and it seemed to stiffen up the pedal somewhat. The truck is currently not registered so when I get the plates on it I'll try some more but I will definately look more into the pressure bleeder. Thanks again for your help as I greatly appreciate it.
