dash lights

when i turn my head lights on the dash does illuminate but when i twist the **** all the way for the dome light the lights come on. does anyone know why this is

Replace your headlight switch, easy job...........That will fix it.

What light comes on when you twist the **** all the way? The dome light? It is suppose to

or do what i did: buy three toggle switches and wire them up. one controls my headlights, one controls my dash and marker lights, and one controls the dome. i have no dimmers on my dash now, but i never use em anyways. (thats how you do a $30 fix at a truck stop at 3 a.m.) there are four wires left over, but they dont do anything. they are for the dimmer. my switch completely stopped working around 2 a.m. and i drove through a storm on the interstate with no lights in the middle of the night till i got to that stop and fixed em by trial and error. its kinda a cool set up now too.

That is pretty intenes, not gonna lie. I acutally like the idea of being able to flip on my dome light with a switch.
