replacing lower intake manifold gasket

1998 Ford Ranger 4.0L 4x4 Can the lower intake manifold gasket be replaced without removing the thermostat housing?

I noticed that this is an old thread, and if you haven't already figured out how to do the repair, I can recommend a thread for help. Go to the Ranger forum and search Lower Intake Gasket and look for the result titled Coolant Loss - 4.0L .... This thread contains a tutorial and pictures posted by Rockledge on 4-26-04, this is the thread that helped me replace mine a couple of years ago.
