Back up lights & leaf springs
It's funny when you think you have a question thats never been asked before and you search the old threads and find out your wrong !
So like many people, I want to add reverse lights to my truck, but want it to engage when its put into reverse. Dont wanna use a toggle switch. On the older posts it said reverse lights wernt offered untill 67 on the truck. So what Im thinking is can I use the "switch" needed for this set up from the same tranny, but out of another vehicle???
I have a 64 f100 CC 2wd w/292 & 3spd (3.03). I understand this tranny was availble on other vehciles as well (1963/64 Galaxies / 1966/69 Fairlane/Torino's / 1965/73 V8 Mustangs).
Any ideas?
Last question: How many leafs should there be in each rear spring pack on my truck? I have 5 in each, but notice in several catolgs there leafs have 8-9 per side. Thanks guys

The complete taillamp assemblies used on 1967/72 F100/350 Stylesides, 1967/77 Bronco's will fit 1964/66 F100/250 2WD Stylesides, 1966 F100 4WD Stylesides.
The lenses in these taillamp assemblies have the backup lens incorporated within.
The backup lights with an A/T are controlled by the NSS (Neutral Safety Switch).
On M/T's, there's a separate backup lamp switch mounted on the shift linkage of 3 speeds, screwed into the transmission shift tower on 4 speeds.
A/T: 1965/66 F100/350 352 use a NSS specific to these trucks which mounts on the steering column. Whether you could use the 1967/77 F100/350 NSS (C7TZ7A247A), I dunno.
Uh...that info on what the 3.03 was also used in (I typed it) only pertained to a previously asked question someone wanted to know something specific about.
The 3.03 trans was used in MYRIAD Ford & Mercury vehicles from 1963 thru 1986.
Some applications: 1963/67 Custom/Galaxie/LTD's, 1963/70 V8 Falcon, Comet & Mustang, 1971/73 Mustang, 1963/71 Fairlane/Torino/Montego, 1970/77 Maverick/Comet, 1975/80 Granada/Monarch / 1963/86 F100/350 / 1965/74 Econoline / 1966/77 Bronco etc. etc. etc!
