So we are in the process of selling out house and talking to the realtor I found out he has a 1956 F-350 that runs just need a clutch. So we and the wife went out and looked at it. And saw it is incredible shape and for only $500 bucks. It looks like the original motor too. I think its a 272 y block. any ways i left there without the truck and called him later that week and told him i would buy it. but asked him not to tell the wife and if i could keep it there for a while until i find the right time to break it to her. any ways here are a couple pictures of it. Do you guys think i could get away with it calling it her birthday present. her birthday is in about a month. plus she is also into these old trucks but due to the fact we are selling the house she might not like it.
Thats what I love about these old Trucks - there are just so many introductions to divorce court.
That 56 is a perfect example - just make sure you get the Truck, tools, and some clothes out of the settlement.
Nope don't see a problem with that plan at all
Maybe put a rose on the dash and wrap a ribbon around the truck............ but $500 looks like a great deal unless of course you factor in losing 1/2 your stuff in court
I wouldn't go with the birthday idea, unless all your stuff can
fit in there and still have room to sleep.
I would however get her something really nice that she may have been wanting for
a long time, preferably that costs at least $501.00

It's an investment for the future. Worked for me. My wife now understands that my small purchase prices can be more than quadrupled in time to allow for much needed funding when required. Or, just explain to her that you are an addict, and there is no known cure. Only therapy works, and the old trucks are the like her soothing bath bubbles when she's had a hard days work (assuming she's employed of course). Or, tell her the truth (usually the best approach). It's a smoking deal. The truck is worth far more than the asking price. You really don't want to pass on the deal of a lifetime. Show her some comparable units on Ebay. Personally, I'd be borrowing money if I had to to buy it. That's a screaming deal, assuming the rest of it looks as good as the pictures. You'd be a fool to let anything stand in the way, assuming it won't hurt you financially.
Heck, my wife would even let me buy it, and even help pay for it to be shipped here, and I'm 2000+ miles away. She's learning what's worth it, and what's not, and even she (a woman that admitedly knows little about vehicles) could see the value in that one.
