16x8 rims for 2000 F350 4wd 7.3 dually
hi 2 question!
1) with a 16x8 fit my solid axle front end without trouble
2) where do I get them?
3) what size tire is best with this rim? I have 235 85 16 on the original 6" rim.
I need this to pull my trailer on the beach and I'm afraid the skinny front tires do not give me enough surface area at 18psi
plus getting stuck equal a 1500.00 tow fee.......

A 16x8 from a single rear wheel truck will fit just fine on the front axle. You probably thought of this but make sure you remove the spacer for the dually rim offset. You can pick up steel rims for fairly cheap at any junkyard. Also keep in mind you'll be needing seperate spares for the front AND the rear.
You'd need to match height with your rear tires. Just make sure to research the actual height of your stock tires and then look for a matching height with wider tread. The advertised height is always a +/- sort of deal so be careful. You can usually find tire stores that have charts with all the info you would need to match things up.
Hopefully this is a 4x4 truck. I wouldn't recommend even going near a beach without 4x4. Our trucks are heavy!
An interesting idea you could have some fun with... purchase some steel dually rims and mount them on the front. It would be ridiculous but entertaining to see! I wouldn't drive it on the road very far (steering issues) but it wouldn't take much for a quick install before you get on the sand.
1500 for a tow off the beach is painful. Where are you heading?
I'm going to the Outer Banks in September and I was thinking about my tires as well so I'm glad you brought this up. Maybe someone else has thought up a better idea.
