1969 Pontiac Firebird... With a 460...

There arent too many message boards I could post this without getting flamed for what I have done, twice now... Anyways... Here is my 69 Firebird, other than a few minor things, most being aligning alternator and the poncho steering pump, its about ready to hit the road.

By the way this engine fits nice, I didnt drill a single hole in the car as a result of dropping this 460 in.

Its been in my 68 for many years, but the car was junk, and its been sitting for years. The 400 Pontiac I built just isnt enough, so here is my solution.

I bet it runs a LOT better with that 460 than it did with the Pontiac 400 or 350, My 69 400 Firebird was a dog.

The 400 wasnt that bad, but this 460 is almost twice the engine. Other than getting a radiator build, its ready!

Mine was a convertible w/ 400 ram air and TH400 and a 3.08? rear axle......Not very fast, lost to a 66 Fastback Mustang with the 271hp hi-po 289-4v 4spd....Beautiful car! but a PITA to work on, had electrical gremlins......Still wish I had it back!

..Cool my brother had a 69 TA & i had a 70 396 nova both 4sp , the TA could hang close but not beat me , the 400 was rated at 370 HP & the nova At 350 HP , but back then the HP ratings were all over the place , the 302 69 Z-28s were fast so it just depends on where it makes its power ... those were the fun days !!! Yeah 428 CJ stangs . boss 302 & 429 stangs... Dam that was fun !!! Lew

You don't see too many old Firebirds, many get Camaro sheet metal attached to them and morphidited into Chevy's. The Camaro seems to have been MUCH more popular to the hot-rodders............I think their HP ratings were a little inflated back then too.
