Unhappy Trouble code PO299 Turbo charger underboost

What does this mean???

i have 60000 miles on it, no real problems so far but i noticed it had less power then usual and ran my superchips scanner and this is what i found.
Trouble code PO299 which means turbocharger underboost when i look it up.

Thanks

Can actually mean under/overboost, so many things can be cause this:

Fuel Pressure
High Pressure oil concern
Turbocharger
Exhaust Leak
Egr valve
Air intake restriction
VGT Actuator

What year truck and how many miles? Checking egr valve is always a good easy place to start. 2 8mm bolts, turn sideways, pry up on tabs.

In most cases where this code shows up it is because the vains in the turbo are starting to stick. Like jboczar says it can be an overboost or an under boost. Your truck is a 2004 which means there is no boost gauge. You may consider putting one in.

When my friend had this code pop up on his 04 Excursion last year, the dealership replaced the entire turbo. Now that you're probably out of warranty, hopefully it's something more simple and you can get away with just cleaning the veins of the turbo to save some cash.

If you run your fuel filters until they clog up, then you will have injector problems. No ifs, buts, or maybes. Low fuel pressure KILLS the injectors. When you have even one fuel injector operating poorly, you will get more soot generated. This can increase the chance of clogging up turbos, EGR systems, and sensors.
