Update:::::back from dealer. 2005 wire harness is different from 2004 an an switching it out now. Cudos to dealer they charged me mega less than the hours they put into telling me what was the matter.
Took intake manifold off of 2005 engine (easier to get harness off) Duh.. the salvage yard lied I think it has a new metallic blue PVC valve that not factory an why would you change that on an engine thats supposed to have 27000 miles on it. Plus one of the spark plug wires is burnt into. Intake ports on block are all black. (Without going out to look my old engine doesn't look like that.)

Glad that you are everything sorted out. I knew the harness was the problem. It sucks about being lied to about your replacement engine but thats usually how it goes. Every used engine you buy is said to have super low mileage and driven by an old lady and we all know its usually not the case.

Hurra!!!!!!!!!!!! It runs/ it runs. An mighty quiet an normal too even if I did put my old plug wires on it. Temp stays normal an no engine light/fault. Oh yessssssssss the aggrivating PATS system is now working. Time to see the locksmith an get that 2nd key so I can program a 3rd key for spare. The locksmith did cut me a regular key for just door at no cost when she came out.

Hey thinking of doing the opposite - putting a 2004 4.0L in a 2005 with a 4.0L. I was told it wouldn't work but it sounds like it will if I use the right engine harness. To get it clear, what engine harness was the correct one for you? The 2004 which came in truck or the 2005 which came with the engine?
