How to get rid of racoons that doesnt involve a .45 ACP??
I live in the Big City-but you wouldnt know it by the wildlife in my backyard. Most recently racoons have been a big problem. Scare my cats, eat everything in the garden-a real pain in the ***.
The Big City govt people will not do anything and wildlife control will not do anything because I am in the Big City.
Is there something that will scare off racoons without involving the police and jail?? Something that doesnt make a big bang??
I have though of an air gun-but lots of glass all around.

Sounds like an effective idea. But I have cats and the neighbors have cats and I wouldnt want them drinking the AF. If the cats died-then I would have a mouse problem big time!!

That just might work! I was also thinking of one of them high powered water guns -fill it with ammonia.

Take one of those 20 oz. plastic pop bottles, fill loosely full of cotton ***** or very fine shredded up pieces of steel wool, puncture the bottom with a no.2 phillips screwdriver. Duct tape it to the muzzle of your favorite .22 rifle or pistol,......now you have a great, cheap silencer that works for several shots..........enough to rid you of your troubles, and the neighbors will never be the wiser.

A live animal trap http://dc-mach-inc.amazonwebstore.co...source=froogle May be available on loan from the wildlife people. You can then transport and release the racoons yourself.

we used to have the same problems in our corn fields, just get a dish, and mix fly-bait and Pepsi (has to be Pepsi!). it is supposedly too sweet for cats to eat, but raccoons love it, and they don't make it very far either. BUT, if you got some stupid cats, I ain't to blame if the eat it.....

If you do want to use a firearm, just buy subsonic .22 rounds. They are pretty quiet.
Catch and release is not allowed in some places (like my state). I get a kick out of the people who hire so-called humane exterminators. They catch the racoons/squirrels/rodents in a Have-a-Heart trap and then are required to either shoot them or drown them.
Don't go the poison route....too much risk for collateral damage.
