Then what was the 1.5 ton F-4?

 

i think it could be split 79 and before as the technology changed after that time, and the 79's i consider classics. people generally dont restore anything made in the 80's either, and the bodies have fiberglass from the 80's too.

and i will be lingering here too. i am interested mainly in the 57-79 conventional cab trucks like the F/T/N series etc. I dont have a real one yet just my custom built rig. i will build more in the future, and i hope to inspire others to get into building the trucks to save the many forgotten designs ford/mercury built in the past, which are, the best looking and toughest trucks imo.

 

Sounds like a good idea. 54 F-750 Fire Truck. Love to really know all the big , older trucks and their owners and where they are located

I really like the idea of this forum. I just bought my first bigger truck (F600) and don't know much about it. It doesn't seem to share much with my F100-350s exept a few body panels. I have ordered the manual but don't have it yet, so I'm looking forward to learning about it in this forum.

 

This is my first visit to this forum. While I don't own anything larger than a pickup I've repaired and driven dozens of medium - heavy Fords. L series trucks are my favorite but I like them all.

 

This is great! I gave up on FTE a few years ago because is was 99.9 % "car" trucks (pickup's, suv's, rat rods, etc). But this is different. Real Trucks! Trucks that are used as trucks. I'm all for it.

I don't know if it needs to be split, but there ARE a lot of differences between medium duty and heavy duty trucks. A guy with a F600 isn't going to be much interested in a discussion of maxibrakes or Brownies - and a heavy truck driver won't have much to say about Hydrovacs or two speeds. Not to mention CDL vs non-CDL. But there probably wouldn't be much participation in a class 8 (heavy duty) forum, so I think this will work fine this way.

When In get a chance I will post some Ford charts that show exactly what models are 2 ton, 2 1/2 ton , 3 ton, 5 ton, etc. It vairies not only with model but also with year.

You are right - but we need participation of the big truck folks to increase, maybe then we can split out to have a section for the larger COE's, Louisville's etc. and then a separate one for Medium Duty trucks.

 

Adrian all I can suggest is be patient. Like most of the economy trucking took a big hit with the recession. Things are starting to turn around and work is picking up. For now most of the folks employed in the trucking industry are working all the hours they can to make up for their losses. As things level out there will be more time to chat on the net but until it does you gotta make it while you can.

Hi All I like it. Have a 56F-100 ,54 M-350 and 56 M-500 coe. It would make looking for info easier I believe. I'm fairly new to this site and computers so anything to make things easier would be great.All my trucks are projects, I've spent hours looking for coe's and believe this would save time. If I knew what I was doing it would go better also but can't have everything

 

Hey guys Im new to this site, I spent 10 years as a warranty mechanic for a Ford dealer in AZ and the last 8 years as a diesel mechanic for a copper mine. I had some back problems and I decided to start drivin trucks instead of fixen them. I am always working on some kind of project or Idea and I normaly work with people I can bounce ideas off of but now Im stuck by myself so I need some new friends. I like the idea of this site after all we cant pay the bills pullin boats and camp trailers with little trucks we have to have real big trucks to put money in the bank.
