Might I be the first one to suggest checking out the UVCH?

Does it shut off instantly or like it's running out of fuel (slowly peters out)?

How big a bump? These trucks have a fuel shut off if you get involved in a wreck or sometimes if ya hit a big bump it will set it off. The re-set is on the passenger side kick panel, take it off and re set.

I'd check the PCM connector & tuner/chip (if applicable) as well...

Either of those, or start checking the wiring harnesses / connections. If a connector is loose it can do that. Also the main engine wiring harness (over the drivers side valve cover), the harness over the top of the front drivers shock, the harness inside the steering column are possibilities as well.

Unless you know of a different mountain to take.

Underneath the airbox bolted to the inner fender liner is a terminal stud for a power cable going from the batt to the Fuse Relay box in the cab. These studs corrode heavily and give you a high resistance connection. I bet a million bucks thats what your problem is. Pull the airbox completely out and you'll see the heavy gauge wire that runs through a 1" square plastic cap. Pull the cap off and see how nasty that connection is! Keep us posted.

Dang Timmy. A million bucks is something I might have to take you up on. Do you really think there's that big of a corrosion issue in Arizona?

I'm down in Texas where we have humidity and I don't have any corrosion issues.

I didn't notice the arizona. . . but that problem is definitely a bad connection. And the way he describes the gauges ticking tells me its that cable. I've seen that many times and to be honest it didn't look like the stud had direct contact with lots of water or road salt. . . but I'd definitely check that cable out from the batt to the fuse relay board.

Chris - oddly enough in CO (where it's super dry) my battery connections would get cruddy super fast, but not in MD (where it's nasty humid). Strange, but true. Nothing rusts in AZ or CO really, but man will electrical stuff get "furry"
