If you're blaster is a cabinet rather that a pot, you might look to see if you've got a hole worn in the rubber hose down near where it connects to the metal pick up line. That happened to me. I had tons of air but no media.

Another possibility is that you've gotten ahold of the heavier of the two Black Beauty products. I had that too and couldn't get it to flow very well through my cabinet. But I think my problem was that it was too big for the pick up, not the nozzle. I switched to the lighter mix and problem was fixed. Stu

I've been told not to use Black Beauty with a pressurized pot, what kind are you using?

I use Black Beauty with a siphon system and I've run into problem when the metal part of my gun wore out. I had to replace the whole gun, not very expensive with a cheap system like mine.

Red face Blasted...

I got a "good" deal on this media blaster from Eastwood
last Fall...only $121.00 to my front porch...not bad...I thought...

But...there is always a "butt"...EVERY time I hit the deadman
throttle...it jams...

Shut everything down...unscrew the nozzle & sure as day...there
is a peice of BB sittin' there too large to pass through the
ceramic......

Man (& Gal's) this is stupid...

Of course Eastwoods suggestion was to "find an alternative media"...

I'm sure you can imagine MY reply...

I stumped...I've looked everywhere (I think) & I cannot find
ANYTHING larger than a 5.0mm ceramic/rubber blast nozzle...

Any ideas...maybe a different blast-gun, or handle, or....
deadmans-whatever-it-is???

-Thanks...

I can't help with the nozzle but I am curious, what are you blasting? I use Black Beauty in my siphon system because it's weak and the additional aggressiveness of the Black Beauty kind of helps. I have blasted small to rather large parts, anything I can fit into my 6 foot cube blasting cabinet. I have also blasted a few pieces of sheet metal without a problem with warpage but I don't think I would blast sheet metal with Black Beauty with a pressurized system like the one you have. I would use a milder media for that. Maybe I'd use it on mechanical parts like suspension parts or something that can more safely handle the aggressiveness and heat generated by a pressure system.

Unhappy blasting blaster...

Trying to cleanup a 9" rear-end housing...I got beat-up pretty bad & I ran
out of 4" wire-cups..they didn't do too much anyway & my poor ol'
grinder......

Anyway...I was gonna do the '56 rear drums & some other stuff...haven't
even thought about gettin' to any of the nitty OR the gritty yet...

Yeesch...

Black Beauty is cheap. Is there some reason you must stay with the heavy mix? I've done truck wheels, frame pieces, you name it with the lighter mix and it works great.

Maybe try screening the stuff as it goes into the pot, like maybe screendoor/bug size...
I always screen sand to the funnel to the pot...just saves a lot of aggravation'..at least try and get the big chunks out so you can fly thru some stuff..just a thought.

another thought

How about taking the "deadman's throttle" off entirely and attaching a ball valve with a stepdown fitting or 2 on the output side

THAT...is a great idea...I was just headin' out to run some errands...

I JUST emptied the tank to make sure the media IS dry 'cause the
SUN finally appeared...haven't seen THAT in DAYS...

While the BB is sun-bathin' I'll run some air-only thru the tank and
make sure there are no gremlins in there alsoand everything is nice
and moisture-free...

Good thing the in-laws hardware is only about 1 mile away......

THANKS......I'll keep "you'se" updated with that idea...as well as
with the rest of the groups suggestions...

I'm gonna get some type of screen set-up also...

Wow...I thought I only had to mow the lawn and
take out the trash today......

I think the black beauty is same as coal slag and it is difficult to blast with. I too got fed up with nozzles on my pressurized pot and found air hose disconnects are a cheap short term nozzle. Threaded fitting on the end and about two inch long "nozzle" with a quarter inch hole worked pretty well. They don't last long but better than shutting everything down to unplug the valve. Will get you by in a pinch to finish a small project.
