800hp naturally aspirated out of a 428? With any production style FE head except a cammer? Didn't happen.
And I actually DO build my own engines and do know what is capable and what it takes to build that kind of HP. Stock FE heads don't have that type of potential in them.

That was what I was told by the builder...and the truck sure has plenty of power!!
It also has a knobby camshaft.
I should have left the HP off the website..then I wouldn't have a bunch of critics
picking my truck apart like buzzards.

Your right you would have been better off not trying to pull the wool over the eyes of people that actually know a lot about this type of stuff.

And if your engine builder told you that he lied to you and ripped you off, find a new builder that one isn't trust worthy.

Also making claims like that completely impune YOUR credibility. Honest stuff will get you a lot further even if it doesn't sound as impressive. Very few people have any clue what 800 or for that matter even 500hp actually feels like. Truth is most people get into a honest 400hp engine and are shocked and amazed.

Why are you so overly sensitive about your truck? if you're seeking 100% approval and admiration you're certainly not going to find it here, guys here are going to give their honest opinions and call BS when they see it, it's just the nature of the beast (no pun intented).

easy bullitt..haha before you try and tell jeff about his owne truck just consider that this truck has been around for a long time.. its been very well documented and its pretty hard to argue when he has posted pics of the engine and videos of him using all that horse power.... im not saying you dont know about your fe motors.. but just cause youve built one for your self doesnt mean you know everything that can be done to every fe ... in every situation..

I have built over 2 dozen FE engines, not including the 6 I have built for myself. I have studied several dyno charts of hundreds of FE engines and have learned from the best when it comes to FE engines: Jay Brown, Barry Robotnik, Blair Patrick, Rod Ciotte, Dave Shoe, Royce Peterson, Jim Kun tz and many many more.

This engine with iron heads and a dual plane intake would barely crest 450 horsepower, let alone 800 or the 700 as stated on the Myspace page. And should I mention the backyard rebuild, painting the engine in the dirt and covering the timing chain and crank with paint? It takes an incredible amount of detail to build an 800 horsepower engine.

It wasn't until a few years ago were full race engines making over 800 horsepower with Stage III KC aluminum heads or Survival Stage III-IV BT heads, Edelbrock Victor or Tunnel ram dual quad intakes and massive solid roller camshafts. Not to mention all the other variables of roller bearing cams, titanium valves and hardware, full roller rocker shafts etc. The highest NA FE engine to date is just a hair over 1000 Horsepower (Kun tz & Company). Even kun tz could barely muster 750 horsepower in 1995 with a 8500 RPM, dual quad full race engine.

Here39s the 428 Sucker!

A Roush 427RX pushes 675 hp at the flywheel with 110 octane and it has 13.5:1 compression. that's a bored and stroked 351. Why is 427 CI pushing 675 very easily believable yet 700 hp pushed out of 472 CI complete bs? I don't think you should rip apart someone's post, especially considering the fact that he owns a mustang with 500 hp to compare with.

That's the NEW engine!! The OLD engine had the high horsepower!! It wasn't built in a backyard...it was built at a long block house. See the pallet? And there is nothing wrong with the paint job.

What professional engine builder would just spray bomb an engine, getting overspray all over the timing chain and crank snout?

I think I need to make something clear here.

The truck ORIGINALLY had a 428 in it when I bought it and built / rebuilt it.
Then I was sponsored by a engine house, builder of engines sold to Checker, Shucks, Kragen, Sears, etc. They are a well known company, but I am not going to say who they are, I have my reasons.
The owner of the engine house designed the engine and built it. There were problems with it, however.
So the engine was rebuilt, and toned down a bit.
The result was a VERY HIGH HP engine capable of doing this with a 14,800LB Monster Truck...

Anyway, the engine lasted for over 16 years, until I started having problems with the
ignition. I ran it on points for a little while..and remembered why I hate points.
I bought a Davis Unified Ignition Distributor (Chevrolet HEI with a custom distributor housing to fit in an FE block).
After installing the D.U.I. distributor, I ran the engine. It had even MORE HP, but it ran for about 30 seconds and exploded!!
Pieces of the camshaft and lifters were laying on the ground under the truck.
Well, I needed a new engine, obviously, but I could not afford to build a whole new
engine like my old one, so I ordered a 428 with an RV cam and double roller chain..
the engine you see in this picture...

...and put it in...

There is a little overspray on the timing chain... it was painted outside in the wind and I
don't think it hurt anything at all. I had to do all the work outside and was trying to beat the rain which was coming soon.
It was late Fall of 2007 (late October) when the engine was put in, and working
by myself, it took until late January, 2008, before the engine was finished.
It was started and broken in just 3 days before the Monster Truck show here in town!!

It was immediately noticeable that the truck had about half the HP that it used to have.
I have done a few shows with it since then and driven it all over town several times and it is very capable of getting the job done!!
Right now I have to focus on rebuilding a 460 for my haul rig. Maybe someday down the road I will upgrade the Monster Truck engine... but not for now.
I am satisfied with it as it is.

-Jeff
