So, made a deal with dood from OK on my 69 Bronco. He had a 72 I was interested in. So, we decided to trade vehicles. My 69 Bronco frame/body/6 point roll cage. His 72 Bronco. Rusty, crooked and ran like ****. I wanted $2500, he wanted $4000. So, I agreed to throw in all my other extra parts to make the up the price difference. INCLUDING my 1 ton axles I picked up in CO.
So, Friday, get off work and head home. U-Haul hadn't called with a pickup location for the trailer yet. Get home and <2 minutes they call. Pickup trailer is halfway across town. I'm thinking to myself... there's a local uHaul with 2 car haulers down the road from me. But, they must be OLD and out of service or something. Oh well. had < 1 hour to pick up or they were closing. So, I'm pissed... driving across town to pick up said trailer. Then, driving up to my buddies house to pick up a cherry picker and jack and WOOOOSH!!!! all of a sudden, it looked like I was driving through a huge puddle but, was on dry pavement. Pulled over and opened my hood. My upper radiator hose popped off. So, I muscled it back in place and re-seated the retainer ring. Hoping it wouldn't do it again.
Got the truck to my buddies house and refilled the tank with H2O for now. Still need to take her to the shop to see what happened and why? But, got the jack/cherry picker and headed home. Loaded up my 69 and headed to Tucumcarri NM in the AM. Truck seemed to have OK power. Was able to maintain 75 MPH all the way. Was even averaging 12 MPG (that's a lot for this truck).
Swap Broncos in Tucumcarri and ended up keeping my axles. The 72 wasn't worth $4K this dood was asking and I didn't feel comfortable giving him everything for it. Told him we could not do the trade or I'll keep my axles and call it good. He chose to trade minus the axles. Anyways... on my way home... truck seemed to have much less power and struggled to maintain 75. Granted the 72 was heavier then the 69. But, It's not like I'm pulling 12K lb trailer or something. I was VERY disappointed in my 08 F350 for overall lack of power on my way home.
Got the 72 off the trailer. Dropped trailer off. Still have axles in the back. Truck seems to move like a raped ape again.
I'm gonna have to haul something with a dodge or chebby to see how different this 6.4L is. But, so far, I'm NOT impressed and I'm a DIE HARD Ford guy. I bleed Ford Blue since I was born.

I don't know. All I know... All of my other Fords seemed to LOVE to tow things. This one (my Diesel) seems to hate it.

Not yet. Wish I could junk this truck and go back to my 05 F150 SC 4x4 Lariat. Was a much better truck.

Sorry to hear Eddie. I'm betting you could benefit from a better exhaust and intake system.
Try a modded 7.3! Mine pulls like a maddog! When I'm loaded w/ the Bronco, extra fuel, firewood, camping gear, parts and tools I'm at 16,000lb. It gets 11mpg at 80 all day long.
