Mobil 1 Filters
I am in the process (at next oil change for each of 5 vehicles) of converting everything from Amsoil to Mobil 1. Getting Mobil 1 10W30 is no problem - it's everywhere. I found only one place (Pep Boys) that has Mobil 1 ATF. I can't find Mobil 1 oil filters anywhere. Who sells them? I've changed two cars already and used Pure One filters but prefer Mobil 1.

You would think your local Mobil gas station could supply it, but also call Mobil and they can tell you who in your area stocks them.

Actually, I have more "vehicles" than five. I know, I have too many toys, but my '73 F100 is my hobby, my pet, and my pride and joy.
I'll check K-Mart when I find one nearby. The two closest ones closed when they filed for bankruptcy but I know of one near my brother's home town in Oklahoma (I'm in Texas).

Oops! I forgot to answer your question. I use Mobil 1 10W30 for high mileage vehicles - except for my F100.
My wife's car has 137,xxx miles, my car has 55,xxx miles, my motorhome has 5x,xxx miles and I take care of my daughters two cars, each with around 100,000 miles. I'm a little leary of the ""zero W anything" because I think that is a little thin. I'm also leary of anything with a spread of more that "20" between the high and low number. A lot of oils make up the difference by adding parafin to get the higher number.
Back when I wasn't using synthetics, I used Valvoline straight 30wt. I am using that in my F100 until it gets a few miles on it. I recently acid vatted the block and completely blueprinted the 390 engine - and added a few "go fast" goodies. It only has about 1,000 miles on it and I plan on using Mobil 1 10w30 when it gets about 7,500 or maybe 10,000 miles on it. That will probably take a couple of years since I rarely drive it anywhere. I know that is not a "high mileage" vehicle, but I prefer Mobil 1 10W30.
At $17.88 for a 5-quart container, I just bought several and store them in my garage.

Jim, just a fyi. I live in Arlington, Texas and get my mobil one oil filters at AutoZone. The last few times I've been in they're about 11.99 a piece but if you buy two they're 9.99... 9.99 was the old price, they went up about 6 months or a year ago. I did find some at Kmart a few months ago but they were the same price... Walmart is the cheapest I've found for the 5qt bottles and Sams has the 10w/30 in 6 qt cases for around 22.00... later, Kevin

Based upon the information I've read, the K&N Gold Filters seem to be in the same League as the M1 and other high end filters, and I can get them at Kragen Auto which is convenient for me. Costs 9.99. I like the fact that it can handle 550psi burst pressure (yeah like I'm ever going to need that ) In all seriousness, I like the efficiency of it. On purely a specs basis I think I like the AC Delco Ultraguard Gold filter, but they can only be obtained from Pep Boys.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-Nov-02 AT 11:07 PM (EST)]This AC\Delco UltraGuard Gold oil filter "sounds" very interesting - from what I've read - I, personally, could live (easily) with an "AC\Delco" part on my Ford - IF I was convinced it was a superior (AKA- "TOUGH") part - and I'm guessing they're averaging around $6.00 ?
BrainA, jimandmandy, the rest of you (and you all know who you are!) where 'are's `ya? haha!
