Need suggestions for mud flaps

Hi,
when towing my racecar on a flat bed trailer, with my 93 E250, if I encounter some water/sand/dirt, the car get sprayed with lots of dirt.

Right now I have no mudflaps. I see many pickup trucks pulling RVs that have a wide mudflap under the rear bumper instead of 2 smaller ones at the rear wheels.
Is that big mudflap at the bumper more effective than 2 smaller ones at the wheel?

Any suggestions for a homemade solution??

Thanks.
Oh, and pictures would be nice also.

I have used Semi-truck mudflaps cut in half and mounted behind front and rear wheels with hex head screws/washers, right into fender flange.
I used an angle iron bracket to mount inner top edge of rear flaps (through inner fender well)
Front top inside I tied off with stainless wire to support flap.

Don't have any experience with those wide, rear mounted flaps.
