Another "what the heck is this" thread
Yet again, I found something that has baffled me and all my friends....
went to the JY and didn't find anything similar on the other trucks :/
oh another thing, there may be more, but why does my Tranny have a big 64 stamped onto the back of it? I can get a picture of it early tomorrow, for now, it's too darn hot and I'm not in the mood to get burned again.
Next up we have a cable that seems to have no home :/
sorry for the crap picture, once again, if needed I will make more.
but, as you can tell it doesnt seem to be connected to anything.
havent gotten to taking the tape off yet, but I do think that it's just taped against the cable that would normally go into the A/C compressor, which I don't have hooked up.
At this point, im starting to regret getting this truck :/, the PO hid way too much from me, and lied about a lot of other things.
thanks in advance for any help.
Josh.

No, I can't tell, I'm not even sure I can see what you're referring to. If you're
talking about what looks like a green wire, it doesn't look factory-supplied to
me, I'd take the tape off and see what's there. If it IS a factory wire, post the
colors, others will know for certain.
From what I've seen, wires going to the AC compressor will come from the
lower passenger-side firewall.
That little gizmo in your fist pic doesn't look factory to me, either (which would
explain why you can't find another in a JY), it looks like a doohickey to mount
a solenoid or emissions component or some such on.

Hey Josh,
The gizmo in your first picture is a "hot idle compensator and tee assembly". From what I was told, the valve is supposed to open when engine bay temperatures rise above 140 degrees. It creates an intentional vacuum leak and reduces the flow of hot gasses from the crankcase to the intake manifold with the intent of smoothing out the idle on hot summer days.
That said, my hot idle compensator valve was leaking badly and I could not locate a replacement, so I removed it and installed a solid length of hose between the PCV valve and the carburetor. I recently did a lot of stop and go driving in 100 degree heat with the A/C on a week long trip to North Texas and never missed it.
The green wire appears to be connected to your decel throttle kicker solenoid?
