DB Electrical Alternator - from bad to worse
#31
There is a thing we doing in db drag(car audio comp) it's called the big 3. U upgrade ur power wire from ur alt to ur battery and also upgrade ur grounds like ur engine to frame, battery to frame/body and and even a alt to engine or to frame. This right here will help out ur electrical a lot. When I was running 9000watts and 6 battery's it improved my voltage .5v during comps. Dosent sound like much but that's lot when u are pulling that much amps. I have even done it in older cars like my 63 impala and the lights are lot brighter and u don't get a surging power problem like some older cars have

For the power wire, you'll have to refer to the amperage-vs-wire gauge-vs- distance to make sure you're OK. I did not replace mine when I installed my 165 amp alternator with a remote bridge rectifier, but I DID run a second cable to my driver side battery, complete with inline fuse. I believe you're OK until you hit something like the 200 amp mark you referenced.
I would also agree that your batts are probably fine.
