Just picked up this little original beauty, a 1964 ford F100 Shorty, 223 6 cylinder, 3 speed, lowered with mono leaf suspension with chrome bumpers, grill and headlight bezels fresh from the chrome shop, super straight and clean body in the original paint... a nice original truck to start with.
Here's the 71 Bronco I just finished recently
and here's the 1965 Ford Ranchero I built for my wife
overlandexpress,
First off welcome to FTE. I have to say those are some really nice trucks. Is that Guards Red on the Ranchero, it really looks great. I used to snow plow and pull people out of the ditch in Michigan with a 71 Bronco. I worked for a Landscaping company that did Landscaping in the Summer and Snow plowed in the winter. Some how I got the smallest truck and did most of the plowing. I wish I could find that old Bronco and bring it back to life.

Welcome from Louisiana. Looks like a nice looking 64. Glad to see so many folks buying the 64's these days (or does it just seem that way to me?). Love the Ranchero. Would like to find one to build for my 14 year old daughter when she gets her license. All I've found so far is a pretty nice little Falcon station wagon, which could be made into a cool ride.

Nice truck man! My wife wants a Ranchero just like yours. I was considering buying mono leafs for my 64, how does yours ride and how low is it?
I just purchased the 64 F100 in fact the picture is of it is sitting in the guys driveway, I am going to trailer it home today, I would drive it but the grille, headlights and bumpers are off and I don't want to risk a ticket, the word I am hearing is the mono leaf's give a super smooth ride but forget about carrying weight in the bed unless you run air shocks.
Ok... I have had the truck one day and already have new tires and wheels...what do you think?
8" wide American Racing Outlaw ll wheels with 235/75-15 tires on all 4 corners. Measuring from the back of the lug nut hole and laying a straight edge across the back side of the rims edge the off set measures 3 1/2" this appears to be the largest wheel and tire package that will fit the fender wells with out rubbing yet giving adequate tire clearance, my truck is lowered with 4 new mono leaf's and matching shocks. Hope this info helps someone : )

Reason: added fitment info
Hows it ride with the mono leafys ? I'm intrested in buying them for my 64 and don't know anyone who has them. When I'm done, my truck will be a daily driver so I dont want too rough of a ride.
Only issue is if a mono breaks it will put you on the ground or frame at speed, And that is not a fun proposition if it is the front axle....
The ride quality of monos suck as there is no progressive dampening or give to them. They also apply all the dynamic force to the shackles in stead of absorbing it like a multi leaf.
If you go with them use a real good shock package like Bilstines to help in the dampening.
