leaf spring bracket rusted out

Hey guys. My dad's truck was riding rough lately and after checking it out, we found that the rear brackets (one the shackle is attached to) for the rear axle are rusted out. The right side is so bad that the shackle was up against the bed! How much hassle will it be to replace these? Are we looking at a day job or a few days? I have a torch, so burning the rivets off is no problem, I'm just not sure where to get the brackets. Its a 97 F250-HD extended cab short bed. Its up on jack stands now, but I'll try to get a picture with my cell.

Thanks, Trevor

It's not a bad job to do, If you've never done one before probably a sat afternoon. I've always gotten mine from ford, weren't too badly priced IIRC

I'll give ford a call tomorrow, check with Ed, and look at LMC. Am I correct thinking that they get bolted back on with grade 8 bolts?

Yep grade 8 bolts. It can be tricky to reach behind the rear fuel tank but it can be done to get the bolts back in

I've never done one on my 350 but I did one on my friends ranger for him.
It wasn't too bad of a job, took me a little time but all in all it was pretty straight forward

Might want to grind those rivet heads rather than torch them. At the least use blue Loc-tight on those bolts. My two pennies.

Thats what i did on my friends ranger. Grinded the rivet heads off then used an air hammer/chizzle to get the part out of the frame

Cheaper?!?! They want 370 for the front and 200 for the rear bracket! I hope I'm looking at the wrong part.

EDIT: FTE parts guy has them for 260 front bracket and 141 rear bracket. Wow...
