Power range of the V-10

my 05 EX gets 14-16.5 on highway at 68 to 72 mph. the range depends on wind conditions this is average for the truck its seen 17 on a 350 mile trip with tail wind the better part of the trip but that is really pampering the 6.8 not realistic mileage by any means. my 03 7.3 EX didn't get 18-19 on a regular basis with 4" exhuast, CAI, and programmer at 67-70 no wind maybe 18-20 any wind at all and it dropped just like the gassers due.

Cat removed= Illegal and really nets you nothing but more noise. Cats have come a loooong way since 1972. They no longer hinder performance.
'00 Excursion V10 getting 18 mpg = B.S., the 7.3L diesel guys barely get that. I believe the best place for you to peddle you lies is over at thedieselstop.com. You'll be more welcomed there.
4"+ pipes on a gas engine = Worthless unless you have a 1200+hp twin turbo car.
Cherry bombs on a V10 = Bet that sounds like CRAAAAAAAAP.
FreakinGenius was great name selection on your part. (see the word "sarcasm" in a merriam-webster dictionary)

Im not to crazy about cats. Ever looked in one they got a lot of stuff in them. If they were so great and didnt hurt power then race cars would have them.
4" flows better and the chery bombs do to. I like the sound. It was ooud with just one but I put another behind it.

Federal law is greater than Texas law, no matter what you Texans think.

you pull the cat, cut off the heat shields and cut the cat in half.
you take out the crap inside and then weld it back together.
you put the heat shield on so that it covers the welds on the cat.
if they check it looks factory.

You can't say 4" flows better as a generic/blanket statement. However you could say 4" has a bigger capacity/volume. If you lose velocity you lose flow and performance.

Sounds like a lot of guys are looking at their trip computers ( ) instead of hand calculating fuel mileage.
After 9 years, my V10 had a best mpg of 15.4 doing 63-65 mph on the freeway (4x4 auto with 3.73). On the turn around trip it got 13.3 at 75 mph (which is about what it does in normal driving). Average mpg in town has always been 9-11 mpg.
Recently I took it on a trip with a cabover camper towing a utility trailer. The rig averaged an honest 10.8 mpg Hand Calculated. This is covering MANY mountain passes in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Oregon.
