Can you display OEM rear DVD on Nav unit?

Nooby here, making my first post, so please be kind if I'm an idiot. I just got my 07 Expy Limited with all the bells a couple of weeks ago.

I have searched the internet in vain looking if it is possible to watch the DVD playing in the rear entertainment system on the front NAV screen (while in park). I have found lockpicks and such that profess to enable video while driving, but I am just looking for the basics here. I just want to watch while sitting in the car with the kids waiting for mom in shopping or whatever.

Sadly no, unless you install the lockpick and run an aux video out signal to the lockpick's video hookups.

That is what I feared, but it doesn't make much sence. Why the integration to control the playback, but no option to view the movie? That is fairly standard on most other systems...

They were designed to be stand alone units. It doesn't surprise me with how behind the Ford electronics are that this can not be done.

While I agree the electronics in his 07 are a bit outdated, if you think modern Ford electronics are outdated, you might want to do a bit more research. Ford is leading the industry in in-car connectivity and infotainment. Take a look at a MY11 Ford vehicle and I think you will be blown away.

In 2007, the pre-sync day, the radios/gps units were outdated. The non nav units are pathetic with their 80's style displays and poor internal mechanisms.

The navigation & radio in our pre-historic '07 Navigator works better and is more user-friendly than the set-up in our 2008 BMW 535.

So Ford isn't the only maker who is/was lacking in this area.

Is the standard radio in the 2010 Expeditions like the 07/08's with the antiquated green calculator style font?
