Cabin air filter indicator light maybe? I don't know if the trucks have a light for that. It looks like they are trying to show air or something flowing through a filter type in the picture.
edit: I just looked at my own truck and I don't have that light in my dash. I bet it's telling you to change/clean your air filter. Don't the diesels have a filter minder thing on the airbox? Maybe it is wired to illuminate that light when it's time.
As for the rest, I haven't paid any attention. I have a 99 work truck with a bone stock 5.4L, and it doesn't have a filter minder. My OBS trucks don't have it either.

I think its only the 02 and up years. My 01 doesn't have one. When the 6637 filter went on, the filterminder got junked. There were no wires attached to it like some guys have.
Replace the air filter, and press the button on top of the filter indicator (located next to the airbox) to reset.
Where exactly is the reset button? I removed the stock airbox/filter for a Banks setup. (2003 F250 6.0) My filter light came on, and I've cleaned and re-oiled my Banks filter, but the light is still on. Didn't know about the reset button.
