5R110 shift glitch
Can anyone point me to an in depth discussion on the Low Reverse Solenoid in the 5R110 Torqshift Transmission?
I am having a shift issue and have been told the aforementioned solenoid may be the problem. I'll try and describe whats happening without dragging this out: once in a while when plowing my transmission will shudder when attempting to backup and also the throttle will have a short hesitation when attempting to move forward, very quick so far, so fast really that by the time I realize it has happened it's past and working fine, it's done both the shudder and the hasitation maybe 3 to 4 times this winter but never one directly after the other and very randomly. Any direction here would be a big help in giving me a direction to start throwing parts at. Thanks in advance for any input.

Thanks Mark, It is so infrequent and random I sorta thought something like that may be the reason for it. It's good to hear it from a pro though, How about the shudder in reverse? dare I ask, is that anything you consider alarming/destructive? it is just as infrequent as the throttle glitch but I wouldn't want to ignore it if I can save a meltdown by addressing it now, And Thanks again for taking the time to answer the questions that you do on this site. I'm sure you already know but it is really invaluable to we Super Duty 6.0 owners to be able to at least get pointed in the right direction with these problems before they do become catastrophic.

If the shudder is just once in a while I am not too concerned. It may be from you "beating" the engagement, i.e., pressing the go pedal before the engagement has completed, but after the time that the software has released the pedal to allow it to accelerate the engine.
