Question 1964 F100 Auto Column shift linkage

I have a 1964 SWB F100 and found a factory automatic column in a salvage yard from another 1964 F100. It didn't have shift linkage with it so I'm in the process of figuring out linkage between the column and a C6 tranny.

I've looked into some universal linkage kits but they all seem to be for GM colums and a C6.

I'm in an unknown area of expertise with this linkage stuff, so any help would be appreciated.

Since there wasn't an F100/350 with a C6 until 1968, you're going to have to fabricate something.

Is the manual control lever still on the bottom of the steering column? This is where the shift rod from the trans attaches.

I don't see any reason why this part wouldn't work with any shift rod, since the I.D. is the same from 1961 thru at least 1979.

Yessir, it sure is. I just went and bought some straight 5/16" round bar from Lowes that I can thread each end so I'll see if I can make a straight connection from the tranny shift arm to the steering column.

Helpful to know those years too, thanks.

The COM column for 64 has a shorter indent pattern for the shifter throw. It may not fully engage the C6.

Also what did the donor C6 come out of?

Jeepins,
I'm more of a lurker here but I noticed that you are looking to make you own linkage as I'm going to do. I ran across lokars web site and I figured I would try to build ("69" F250) something similar: http://www.lokar.com/interior_pages/...lshiftlink.jpg, so you maybe you want to check out how they did it.

Garbz, the C6 came out of a 91 Econoline Van (according to the numbers). I did see Lokars website but they were one of the suppliers I mentioned that make a kit for a GM column to a C6 tranny.

I did hit the salvage yard the other day and pulled the shift linkage from a 91 Econoline van but the brackets bolt to the frame and are too wide. Going to try and shorten tomorrow it and see if I can get things lined up with each other.
