I am having some hesitiation going uphill after driving aboiut 3 hours highway. I am driving from IL to TX and it started yesterday. Fuel filter is about 6 months old. I have done at least two additives in the past 60 days. Had a mechanic change all plugs yesterday. Check Engine light is not coming on.
pcv?
O2 sensor?
wires?
Again, it started at about 3 hours on the road. It is 106 degreeesher in north TX right now.
Any codes? Could be fuel issue or PCM flash issue. You didn't say what you have, so I'm only guessing. But I do know these trucks have had issues with fuel pump driver module and fuel pumps. If you have a P0191 code I would suspect fuel pump or driver module.
COP is coil on plug. See what codes you have. Auto Zone or Advance Auto can retrieve engine codes for free. we can help you better if we know the codes.
You have a fuel system problem. Most likely culprit is the fuel pump control module on the rear crossmember ahead of the spare tire. It could also be a fuel pump. It seems the modules are prone to rusting out. There was a thread on this about 6 months ago.

I've seen this a few times here in NY, under the truck bed, bad place to be for that module. on my buddy's 05 he shut it off and it would just not fire back up. just like an traditional fuel pump failure, he called the dealer and they stock these modules so they must be pretty common to see fail.
Thanks for the help. The Autozone code was spot-on. I had a local mechanic get the part from the dealer. It was the Fuel Rail Control module. It sits right on thop of the engine on the fuel rail assembly. Just got off the road driving in 99 degrees for 3 hours - no issues.
I thought that fixed the wife's 02 taurus, but about a month later the problem resurfaced. So did the P0191 code. Replaced the fuel pump assembly 3 months ago and no more problems. On a Taurus the fuel pump driver module and pump are in the same unit in the tank.
