I prefer the hot air system myself. Years ago I put on an after market header and intake eliminating the heat riser on a old AMC 258 I used a temperature controlled air cleaner to feed 80 deg air to the carb. Had no issues and I live in New England.
One of the mods that the GM LT1 boys like to do is to bypass the coolant to the TB to lower intake temps.
regards
rikard

'Old Man' Johnson of JMS Racing Engines drilled & tapped my Offenhauser 'C' Intake & connected it to my radiator system to provide heat.
Works real well too.

Yes, but it does not come with the plate and fittings to connect your heater lines to it. You have to make it yourself. Harte3 posted photos of the one he made for it.
Just didn't know if the fittings on his plate terminated at the outside of the intake and just conducted heat through contact with the intake or if the intake actually had an uncapped 'resevoir' you could pump coolant into.
