E4OD SLIPPAGE

Just bought a 91 F150 2WD 160.000apx miles, with what I believe to have an E4OD tranny. I have noticed the tranny slipping while taking off from a stop while in drive. I can't say I notice it slipping in the remaining gears as I drive, but while in drive at a stop, I will shift into low 1 and I will feel my tranny grab even more than in drive waiting to go. If I drive off in low 1, it pulls fine. But in drive, the tranny whines a little as it starts to grab. It also seems to be a bit slow getting in gear when shifting from park to drive. I have checked my fluids, they are fine. Been two years since last service. Was service'd regularly. Any suggestions?
Also, is there a way to read codes of the cpu at home instead of taking it in to the dealer?
Thanks, Brian BCURBOX@AOL.COM
