So you need a 28oz 164 tooth flywheel for the 5.8, don't use the one off your 5.0 it's 50oz.

Not much more, you can use the 5.8 computer but there is a neutral or gear shift indicator that has to be tied to ground or 12v.. can't remember what pin it is right now.

Ok, so my pickup is finally starting to come back together. Been some money issues holding me back but now the engine is about to go back in.

I ended up buying a 408w. I also have got the computer, MAF, pretty much the whole engine wiring harness out of a '95 F150, 5.0, Auto, in the local junkyard (I guess C4C was good for something at least) I have the 2 harnesses close to be made into one for my swap. Ive found a couple wiring diagrams and such so the wiring shouldn't be a prob, but I had a few questions.

First off, how do I remove the pins from the connectors?
What do I need to do about the difference in transmissions?

Is my cruise control gonna work after the swap or do I need something else from the parts pickup? The 95 had a different throttle cable setup

See here for the computer connector.. Ford Fuel Injection EEC Connector

As for the trans difference, you need to find out what trans the donor truck had and then rig up the shift sensor circuit that would normally go to the trans to make the computer think it's always in drive.

It has the 4R70W.

On FFI it has all the pins listed and pin 30 has the Manual Lever Position Sensor but how do I make the comp think its in drive?

Also what are the pros/cons of the 2 oxygen sensors, is there any reason to have the 2 or can I just put in 1? Im gonna be putting in LT headers and running true duals, probably no crossover pipe because Im gonna have it dump right under the bed, close to the front.

yes run 2 o2 sensors, this is how the ecu will monitor either bank. also with duals you must run a crossover otherwise it will run and sound like *****

A single O2 jumpered to both computer inputs will work just as well as two individual sensors from an overall standpoint. Dual sensors allows the computer to alter fuel trims individually on each bank of the engine but there really should not be much difference if all the injectors are performing the same.

So Ive got all the wiring taken care of except the transmission issue.
Is it as easy as just getting the MLPS off of the 95 F150 and wiring that in and setting it in drive or is there a better way to do it?

Yes the MLPS is probably the best way to do it.

Alright, engine in, wiring complete, fires but barely runs. Checked the distributor twice its in there in the correct spot. The running seems to be a timing issue but I cant get it running long enough to get the timing set correctly at 10 BTDC.
Anyone have any hints to get it done?
Id really like to get it running well enough to break it in.
