Popping Noise in front end or axle

Hello again, thanx all, for replies on my other post. I have a bigger problem now, When i turn a sharp curve or turn my wheel as far as it can go to turn arround or make a turn-in, A popping and clunging noise appears to be coming from my front end. I have to be moving tho... But the speed does not matter, it still is a dull, lowsound, popping noise and i can sort of feel it in the cab and through my wheel. My truck is a 4x4, 102,000 miles 6.0 diesel. Not FX4. What could it be??? BTW when i first bought the truck, I test drove it and found that it pulled real hard to the right (passenger) side. It would run completely off the road in less than 80ft. I told them to fix it or align it, whatever it needed, then rotate my tires, they did.. Now... few thousand miles later .... The noise!

thanks all for upcoming hep ... Would be appreciated

I had a local mechanic check mine out for the same kinda sound. It would only do it in one direction on mine. He got under there and found a spot on the "bump-stop" for the steering that was shiny, meaning it was hitting when I turned fully. I dont turn all the way much at all anymore and its never been heard since.

Do you have auto locking hubs? Sounds like one of your hubs is not unlocking or is locked.

It sounds like a U-joint due to a locked hub. Have you ever serviced your hubs? I would do that first.

have to agree with 2004

Had the same thing on my 2k4 F350.

Look at your sway bar (trails the front axle) and you will see it is attached to two linking bars which then tied to frame. The bushing at the bottom of this linking bar wear out, torsion on the axle, clunk...
