Fuel system problem

I have a 1997 F-250 7.3 liter turbo diesel with 225,000 miles. When diesel prices got so high, I did not drive it to much. Meaning it would set for weeks before being driven. When I started driving it more often, it was hard to start, would die almost immediately after it started. I would have to hold the gas pedal done to get it to stay running after it started. The other day I was driving it, when it started jerking, no acceleration, then died. When I removed the fuel filter lid, I could see black specs floating in the fuel, the filter appeared completely blocked. I drained the old fuel out of the bowel, replaced the fuel filter, maybe drove 30 miles, before it quit running again. Once again black specs in the fuel and the filter was plugged. Do I have bad fuel lines that need replacing? If I did, has my fuel pump been damaged.
Thanks, Hoby

RE: Fixed

Just wanted to once again thank those that attempted to help me. I ended up taking my pickup into a diesel shop. It had a lot wrong with it. The IDM was bad, I had a burnt glow plug connector, They put a new upgraded turbo boot, she now runs better than new. I didn't run it to the dealer, I took it to a local diesel shop. It seems the fuel was not the real problem.
Thanks, Hoby
