Looking for a serpentine conversion
My '92 IDI 7.3 as many know has the aggrevating V-belt setup. I was wondering if anybody knows of a vendor or somebody that has the brackets and pulleys to convert it to the serpentine setup. I have looked within a 250 mile radius of junkyards looking for the 93 models, tried ebay and craigslist but with no luck. I want to convert it just for simplicity as well as my truck has dealer installed air and I would like to make it factory so I need brackets as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You don't want hear this, but I am with the other guys, leave the good old reliable METAL v-belt pullies on there with all the REDUNDANT belts.
A guy I work with has been stranded 3 times now in the middle of nowhere with his 94 idi with the serpentine setup.
1st time his A/C clutch flew apart. With v-belts, you clean up the mess and drive on.
2nd time the tensioner flew apart.
3rd time the plastic idler pulley went out.

There is one thing a serpentine conversion is good for tho - cranking lots of amps out of the alternator at idle. I have a 130amp 3G alternator that works great, but the darn double-V pulley is so huge when I'm idling the alternator is just not turning fast enough to make the amps needed to power up my over 800 (and soon to be near 1000W) of lights. The factory serpentine pulley is pretty large too, but a pulley from a late-'80s Crown Victoria is very small, so that would speed up my alternator and solve my power issue. However I'm not willing to part with the redundancies the V-belt setup provides, so in a few days I'll be hitting the salvage yard looking for the hen's teeth in the form of a small double-V pulley from an early-'80s Fox-chassis car...

double_zero,
Using private messaging is the best way to discuss parts transactions on FTE.
They are not allowed in the open tech forums other than a post like yours looking for parts.
You have to have 26 posts before private messages will work for you.
The email link will work just fine though, but a lot of people don't want their email addy in an open forum either.
You guys did great, I need this, I have that, here is email let's talk.
Exactly like it should be by the guidelines.
