Doug Thorley headers
I've watched this forum quite often and can't say that I;ve seen much on this so I thought I'd ask. Has anyone installed or know anything about Doug Thorley headers. I ran accross them on the Summit website and thought that they were nice. They're long tube headers that combine the headers and y-pipe in one. With all the talk about y-pipes on here I'm surprised I haven't seen more on these. Thanks, Dennis

there was a poll/post awhile back, and i beleive Thorleys were the most sought after headers..
for those who own headers and those who were asked "if u were to buy, which brand would u select"...
those Thorleys def. seem like the nicest headers i've come across. and its what i would own...

There is a poll floating around from semi recently that asks who runs what header and I think the majority are running Thorley's. You'll probably get more replies on this than you expected. I do have them, and I do like them. I don't like that they aren't stainless... But I do like that they are made of the thickest gauge of all the headers available for the 10. They do not bolt directly up on the 99. You need to have a filler pipe made that goes through the transmission cross-member from the cat to the flange at the rear of the passenger header. Also I replaced the u-bolt style pipe clamps with band clamps because I was leaking at the pipe that connects the driver/passenger side headers.
If I had the money I would have bought the Banks. But I bought these instead and would do it again.

dkf Yes I think that I am going to run the stock muffler and exhaust for right know. I have heard that the stock exhaust is fairly efficient as is, after the y-pipe that is. The main reason I'm doing it is to get rid of the factory choked down y-pipe and I have broken studs on both manifolds. I just can't see putting the stock manifolds back on once they're off. To take care of both of those with the headers is win-win. What did you do with the rest of your exhaust?
