Midship Plastic fuel tank mount

I am looking for help with the fuel tank mount/skidplate for a 1979 F250 regular cab longbox. All of the trucks here that have them are rusted out so bad that they're completely unuseable. Is there a source for this part, can I convert it to something else? The tank is in great shape and works fine, but I have no way to hold it up!!

How do us northerners get parts up here like that? Do we need to start a trading program on this site? We'll trade you interior parts for sheetmetal parts?

Is your truck a 2wd or 4wd?

Does anyone know how/what to get to convert from plastic to steel? I wouldn't think that it would be too big of a deal to get the straps and tank, but I don't know for sure. I don't really care which one I have, I just want to have a tank in the darn thing.

I had a 1979ish, I say that because it was a salvaged truck that had a few different year parts on it, and it was registered as a 1971 :P. But it had side mounted plastic fuel tanks. I thought they were from a place like JCWhitney since they did not have sending units. I can take a picture of the straps to see if they are close to what you have. I looked on LMC.com and they show the tanks but not the straps . I will try to post the pictures tonight some time.

Try FTE sponsor: mikestrucksalvage.com

Is this a 2WD or a 4WD.

The Ford part number in Post #4 is for a 4WD.

No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

My truck is 2wd, When I was looking for a tank for mine, I'm assuming they were steel, from Mac's I seem to remember. I ended up not needing one.
