Torque converter lock up mod....

I am guessing you might have something else going on. Mine shifts too quick sometimes, lock up and third at the same time. It does release the tc when shifting to fourth, but only for a second. I don't feel it, but my led blinks on and off pretty quick.
I don't think I have ever used the switch for lock up, because it is locked a lot more than I thought. But the led is nice to monitor things.
What your describing sounds like it's slipping?

I personally don't find a need for a TC lock up switch any longer. Most of the 6 pos chip companies that we all use to program our 7.3's have the TC lock up and TC disengage programmed into them. Not completely sure, and I could be wrong, but I just don't see the advantage here.. I have Matts 6pos chip installed in my truck and my truck literally shifts like this (1st gear/TC lock up/ 2nd/3r../ OD). So my truck shifts and acts just like a 5 speed. All gears spread out evenly in accordance with how deep I am into the throttle of course. It stays locked up thru out.
On Edit: As I mentioned, because I have 35's w 6" lift and 3:73's my tranny will hold 3rd just a little longer to avoid to much rpm drop into OD.

1st/TC Lock-up/2nd/3rd../OD. Matt tuned my tranny so that it draws out 3rd just a little bit further to avoid the rpm drop that happens into OD. It helps out a lot because I'm also running 35's on a 6" lift w 3:73.
On Edit: As Mark stated, the valve body spring kits do nothing to help TC lock up. It's all in the programming Fellas. Also when talking to the chip programmer of your choice, make sure you let them know if you've done Valve body/shift kits etc... If not, your tranny will slam from gear to gear which is never a good thing.

so this make a question for me.
It seems my 2003 r4100 goes through the gears and into OD then about 45 mph the TC locks up. I figure that is what is going on as when i take my foot of fuel pedal the rpm drop and the truck starts really slowing down.
One issues with that like when on the hwy is it slows me down to much. I like to coast up to stop light, turns etc so the slowing is not what i need so i shift to "N" and just coast.
One question is there a way to 1. have the TC lock up a bit sooner like at 40 mph. it wants to stumble a bit and then lock up.
2. have a way to unlock the TC when i like touch the brakes so it will coast a bit better or just do what I do now and kick it out of gear.
I had a chev impala 2008 and that thing would coast forever when you took your foot off the gas. It took a while to get used to that aspect of the car, I had to tell my wife a bunch of times to let off the gas way before she got the stop sign or light to prevent from wearing out the brakes.

This switch won't really do anything to tell you if your converter is bad. Most likely it isn't wired correctly. If your converter was bad, you'd have a lot more serious symptoms and implications.
