76 to 65 Front End Swap Question

I have swapped the front end out of my 65 F100 with a 76. This was to get front disc brakes. Here is my question..

On the 65 axle there is a small bracket that bolted to the axle and then attached the frame. It looks like it is used to ensure the axle does not drop down too far.

On the 76 axle there is no hole in the frame or bolt to attach the bracket to. It seems like I just need to drill a hole in the axle and bolt the bracket on. What do I do??

You would be correct... on the 65 if the ibeams dropped below a certain level the springs would come out... on the 70s models there is a special washer that holds the springs to the ibeam and a strap at the top of the spring.

no factual info but I was told that the bracket didnt allow for full suspension travel under severe situations... and could cause an accident.

I just replaced mine with a 75 front end and used all the 75 parts, which meant I had to make a strap to fit the top of the springs.
--- who knows.
Good luck, you will be very happy you did this swap.. I love the power disc brakes... and power steering.

Do you still have the 76? Just grab the two straps and 4 bolts from the donar. Couple of holes drilled on each side and your ready to go.

Taylor, I run 76 I-beams under my 66 without the part you are asking about. No problems after about 7 years now.
