Probably just the casting. Jack it up and see if it spins true while in gear.

This may sound stupid but is your vibration damper in place on the rear of your trans? Just a thought it may be missing. Sounds like your going through hell. Hope you get to the bottom of it soon.

Both there.
I cant say this enough that I appreciate you giving me ideas and feedback. If this were any other vehicle, I would have already traded it.

Hang in there, it is prominant and continous enough that you will find it.

Going thru same thing

I am having the exact same problem with my 03 diesel ex. I have not put the extent of work you have at this point but I am about to start. Just came back from a vacation trip and it shook me to death. My daughters friend was scared it shook so much. It has been this way for a while, but I am not at the point where i must find a cure.

Lateral Misalignment between the TC and Pinion

I am having vibration issues too. I have checked the center bolts and they are okay. I noticed there is a dog-leg at the carrier bearing, it is off about 3/8 of an inch, to the left. I called the driveline shop this morning and they said that the lateral misalignment is normal. Also he told me that they cut off the vibration damper and balance the shaft because the harmonic balancer is just trouble.

Did you ever solve these vibrations? Im having them now.. I have the one original driveshaft, with 2 new ujoints... My vibration dampener on the driveshaft looks like the rubber is cracking..

I plan to order a new driveshaft and Endpieces all as one unit and having it balance by tom in Utah. I have not torn into the rear end ever.. the helicopter noise best describes it, but at a higher frequency.. its not comfortable to ride.. it has 167K miles..

I am also hitting the front end shop for an alignment, ball joint check and front bearing check just to be safe.. Mine just started all of a sudden.. I also changed to new tires, and they balanced the rims dry and then the rim/tire..

This is a higher frequency vibration than the tires can do.. I feel in my gut its driveline related.. Changing U joints didn't fix it..

Mine also has an odd vibration when cold.
Had an alignment check done today. Sure enough, it has 1 wheel with play (wheel bearing), other wheel has a bad top ball joint, some play on the tie rod going to pitman arm. And he said the steering box is bad. Doh.
Most if not all i can do myself.
Its a 2wd so bearings should be easy and cheap. Not sure yet on ball joints on 2wd.
