QwkTrip is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Forget the V10 debate.... let's talk about 6.0L vs. 6.4L PSD!

It seems only fair to have this debate too.

can't comment on the v-10 or 6.0 as I never had either of them.

But for the 6.4, it is great. no problems and tows great. So to me it is money well spent.

I've had 7.3's, V10's, and a 6.0. I will not buy a 6.4, don't want to pay for repairs after warranty on that engine. Way to friggin complicated and sardinish. I bought another V10. I won't own another 6.0 or 6.4. I would own another 7.3, and will consider Ford's new 6.7, but nothing in between.

If I was forced to make a decision between 6.0L and 6.4L then I would choose a late model 6.0L.

1. The new diesel emission systems had to be put into production so quickly that there wasn't enough time to fully develop and validate. I don't want to be part of a production field test.

2. 6.4L fuel economy is remarkably terrible. It is the worst between Ford, Chevy, and Dodge!

3. The 6.4L comes with the ugliest front end treatment ever seen on a Ford truck. The only thing uglier is the Chevy - and even that is debatable.

4. The only thing good about the 6.4L is you can get it with a pretty sweet interior. But let's get real... what isn't nice about the previous interior?

The 08 and newer trucks are the best looking of the bunch when lifted though. And I don't mind them in stock form either but man once lifted, nothing on the roads right now even comes close to looking nearly as good. I would take a 6.4 over a 6.0 even though I do love my 6.0 and I would take a 6.0 over the 7.3. I would also take all three over the V-10 just simply due to diesel.

I'd take a 6.0 over a 6.4 any day, but I do love my 7.3

The 6.4 scares the living crap outta me. Emissions BS out the azz. Plus it doesn't even sound like a diesel!

being a diesel head i am not all that impressed with any of the big three's new diesels. If i were to by a fod diesel the only one i would own would be a 7.3L PS. I feel that the 6 ho no and the 6.4L are terrible motors. FOrd really took a step in the wrong direction going away from the 7.3 What I wish would happen is that ford would finally come to its sences and build an I-6 diesel to compeate with the mighty Cummins.

If ford had a good I-6 Diesel i would not be driving my dodge. In fact I wish Ford would have had the brains to try nad get cummins from Dodge when 12v's p7100 injected motors were still being made. Then there would have been the perfect truck from the factory made. 1997 ford f-350 Srw 4dr LB 4x4 with a 12v cummins .
