Shane in WI is starting off with a positive reputation.
I just bought a pair of the "type 9" style from LMC truck. I have yet to mount them, but they appear correct. $49.95 each. My local Ford dealer said he can still get original Ford mirrors for $70 each. I see similar one's selling for $20 each in a parts store, but they are different w/ different mounting plate spacing.

What do you think of the quality of the LMC mirrors? I was about to buy a pair but wasn't sure about the quality. Do they seem sturdy? We are talking almost $20 each cheaper than from Ford.

They are cheaper because they are made in China.

I realize this, but is the quality obviously inferior or is it worth spending an extra $40 for the pair of Ford mirrors?

Are those type 1's on my '74 C700? :)
I'll be by there again pretty quick, I'll see if they got "Ford" on 'em. :)

Thought about taking that Ford emblem off the front and putting in on my '91
Bronco. LOL :) It's in pretty sorry shape tho because of the Arizona sun. :/

------------------------------------

I special ordered my pickup with type 7's, wanted them to take brush busting.
"Swing Lok" :)

I re-did the hardware with stuff from Ace hardware. :)
Stainless steel bolts and washers and new clear nylon washers.
The bolt heads were covered with numbers and crap so I ground those off. :)

Bill, I went out and looked at mine from the same angle and I'd bet it could
be original F-series. :) Other than the different "swing-lok" mechanisms...
looks just like mine, same angles and everything.

The passenger side mirror sucks anyway, it's too low and too far back.
Passengers get in the way of using the mirror way too easy.
Part of the problem is the "mirror shell stem" is too short. :/

In a short amount of time the bracket for the ball that the mirror pivots on will start to disintegrate. Spend the extra money for factory mirrors, you'll be happier in the long run.

It doesn't mount correctly to be from an F100/350. It's most likely an Econoline mirror.

What's that rusty coupe next to the C700, a 1938 Chevy?

I mounted the LMC mirrors on my truck last night. They fit good and look great. I am happy with them. Hopefully they last. I would assume that the Ford mirrors are better if these are made in china, but for my project they look great.

Can you post some pics please?

*EDIT*

I just ordered a pair of the D4TZ17696A type 9 mirrors from the Ford dealership my little brother works at. $135 shipped for the pair.

I can't, but if I get some help I can. They came in a plain white box. Side by side with the broken rusty mirror on my truck, they appear the same. I am guessing that the chrome isn't very thick, but I don't know.

That's roughly dealer cost + 10% plus shipping....can't beat that with a stick!

D4TZ17696A = MSRP each: $84.18 // DEALER NET COST each: $56.40.

i wont buy mirrors from LMC again. not only is the chrome way to thin, the glass fell off the first one about 3 months after i bought them. though it was a fluke, second glass fell of about 4 months after that. its held in with what looked to be hot glue.......im holding out for a nice set of NOS to show up on ebay.
