Performance 351w build

Well the machine shop that has my 85 351w blocks said that there was a small hole in the cylinder wall of piston # 8. I have no clue what happened there I have access to a 94 351w block and i think its a roller motor. will the Crane cam 444232 cam work with this block, or is there another one that will produce better numbers with this being a roller? What are the differences between a roller and a nonroller as far as performance wise?

For now, i have 1.7 rockers, GT40 heads, the crane cam and LTs that are going on this motor. Is there anything else I can do on the SD setup for more power without doing too much for the SD to handle?

Yes '94 block will be roller ready, but the Crane cam will also drop in no problem the bearing journals are the same. Have you already purchased the cam?

I have the cam, yes, but if there is another one that has significantly better numbers i will go pick that one up, then i will just use the 444232 in my dads truck and throw on some shorties while im in there.

With SD you won't get significantly better performance with a roller cam, and it'll cost you 3-4 times more for the cam and lifters.

So staying with the 444232 cam will be the best option? this donor is a 94 and its still SD... I really was hoping for it to be MA so i could take all the parts i needed for the later build, either for this motor, or my next one...

Thought you were just getting a block not a complete motor?
