What gears do I have?

hey guys i've got another question for yall. i have a 1976 ford f150 custom, it originally came with a 360/390 is what the P.O. me and he put a 302 in it. it has a ford 9 inch. but i don't know what gears i have. any ideas of what i do have in it.

most likely 3.50's or 3.73's but short of pulling the diff cover off you can jack it up and turn the tire one complete revolution and count the turns on the drive shaft, e.g. if d/s turns 3 times you have 3.00 gears, if it turns 3 1/2 times you have 3.50 gears, etc. etc.

Post the AXLE code off the (second line-far right) Warranty Plate, which is located on the face of the left door below the latch.

The Ford rear axle ID tag (if still there) is located at around 5 o'clock under one of the bolts that holds the carrier (pumpkin) to the housing.

The rear axle ratio could be anything from 2.75-1 thru 4.10-1.

The most common ratio for F100's from 1965 thru 1979 and F150's from 1975 thru 1979 with an A/T was 3.25-1, AXLE code 17.
