I recently took my 97 psd to the dealer for the cam position sensor recall. The truck ran good before it was replaced. After, it feels very low on power. Turbo is not spooling as before. i feel like i lost 50 hp. does anyone know why this would be or what the stealership would have touched? The truck still runs good and does not stall or stumble.
Thanks,
James
I will take it back but, i wanted to be educated first. i'll say you guys screwed up my truck. the'll say no we didnt. thats how my conversations with ford usually start.
Thanks for the imput.

Well, that usually doesn't get a conversation started off on the right foot. You might start out with something like, I don't think the CPS is working right. Since it was installed, I'm not getting the power I used to have. Then tell them what it's doing. Some on here at FTE have had to shim the CPS to get it to function properly. Could be a faulty CPS, some are bad right out of the box. Could be a bad plug on the sensor. A number of possibilities,,,, Could be just coincidence that something else may need to be addressed.

John's right they may have stressed the wiring or the plug reducing the conductivity. Other than that theres not really much else to screw up in that area. What color is the new CPS?

i dont know what the color of it is. I havent looked at it yet. I will go back and try to be nice but I cant tell you how many times ford has raped me over the years. All those fools have to do to lessen customer complaints is test drive the car after they work on it. I dont want to get started...
I've had my CPS recall done about 30-40K miles ago. Now my truck has been stalling a lot recently. Do the replacement CPS' go bad or were they improved? I'm getting no trouble codes when I scanned. Any ideas?

Bad news....New or old, CPS's can last 100K + miles or 100 feet...very unpredictable. A CPS can go bad with out warning and with no DTC codes thrown.
Good news is they are cheap now from the dealer. Buy 2 and keep one in the glove box, along with the tools needed to change it, for emergencies. They can completely die without warning. You may have had a warning with the stalling. If that doesn't fix it post back here or in the forum that covers your 2001 PSD.
Not a problem, I hope that solve it for you. I wish there were an aftermarket choice, then maybe the CPS issue would go away.
You can try getting one from IH, they may be cheaper but still the same design.
