Hey guys happy 4th to everyone . I have been working on the truck a little bit when I can find the time . I just installed the front fenders and set the hood on the truck to get some ideas flowing as to how I'm going to do the two tone paint scheme on the hood and boy what a time I've had trying to get these fenders to ling up . The hood is great across the cowl area and down the rear curved section but tight up against the fender about half way up towards the front . The passengers side is a total nightmare it sits way to high in the back where it is bolted to the cab and all along the rest off that side until it gets almost to the front where it then sets lower than the hood by about a 1/4 inch or so . .I have checked the frame and the front horns are nice and straight with no buckles to indicate a wreck some where in it's life
Anyone else having trouble with the aftermarket fenders ? I bought these about 5 yrs ago from a oklahoma company ,is it possible that these are from a bad run ? Thanks
I asked Bebops Glassworks about fenders for my 52 and they told me not to order them until I am ready to put them on the truck as soon as they arrive. They told me that if I just set them aside that they could start changing their shape. It could be what has happened to yours. I hope not though. Good luck with it.

Not clear if his are 'glass or steel (53-56 have the choice). What you describe is what happened to my glass front fenders. That's my only complaint with glass.
Sorry everyone I did forget to mention that these are the steel repops . I normally Do Not use aftermarket parts on a rebuild just for this reason . After all the yrs doing body work I should have known better . Still anyone have any thoughts ? I guess that my next step is to dismantle the front sheet metal and start slotting some holes .
I bought some steel fenders from an OK company some time ago as well and I am just now starting on the pre-assembly process. What I have noticed is that the crease in the top of the fender, the edge that mates to the hood, is not at the proper angle and that the spot welds around the headlights are very ragged. The rear edges mate well to the cowl and the lower front flanges mate well to the gravel pan/valence. I am doing some fairly extensive mods to my truck in the radiator core support areas so I am not too concerned about how the repops mate up in that area as it will be all custom-built anyway. When I bought the fenders I figured that there would be rework necessary so it was no surprise to me that I am "massaging" the panels to fit. Were I building a full restoration truck I would have used Dennis Carpenter panels, I have had very good luck with the fit and quality of his repops.
Hi , I am not blaming the guy in oklahoma by any means . It's just these fenders are really not anywhere near the quality that they should be for the price they charge . By the time the shipping was added in I believe they were just a tad under 1000.oo. So heads up guys be willing to spend a lot of time fixing a ton of alignment issues if you decide to go the after market route .
I feel your pain,I had the same issues. I bought mine from Midfiftys but wouldn't blame them either as I believe they're all from across the ocean. I bought new front cowl corners, reinforcement pieces, fenders, air deflecters and gravel pan and was hard pressed to find very many of the holes to line up with one another. It would be nice if they tried to assemble some of this parts before they ever started to be sent out to the paying customer but it is better than the cancer eaten parts that were on the truck when I got it. Trying to find good fixable ones around here is next to impossible.

I just fit the same ones; steel repops from the OK company or should I say China as thats what the sticker inside the fenders said. As someone mentioned the spot welds are shabby and the fits a little off in the front. I did manage to get them looking ok but still adjusting as they settle in. My whole front end is repop except for the hood. For the price though $269 a piece with free delivery to a local swap meet I can't complain.
Hmmmmmmmm????? I was trying to decide on buying the front fenders from an OK supplier, piecing together two pairs of bad fenders, or buying fiberglass front fenders from Bebops. Any comments on Bebops fenders for a 53?

Can't say for sure on a '53 but I bought four fenders for my '48 from Bebops and I'm happy with them. I planning to buy two more from them for my '49.
man you guys are making me think . i need the rear fenders for mine as they are kinda rough , and was putting the cash aside to buy a set of steel repops , but now im wondering ...................................

Dennis C. has the rear fenders made from original dies. Never heard anything bad about them. Front fenders are a challenge for repro because of the size and depth of the dies.
The front doghouse is not the easiest to get lined up no matter where the fenders/hood/etc came from because most go about it backwards or leave out parts. Try doing a search on my user name, I have posted the right procedure a number of times. Don't bother trying to not use the firewall-fender support rods or not replacing old rubber pieces.

Hi AXracer .
How do I do a search on your user name to find the info that you mentioned because you've peaked my interest in seeing if I have overlooked something . Thanks
